ISA members who attended Monday’s general meeting ratified the tentative ICSD-ISA contract with a 27-1-0 vote. Their concern for the union’s future was welcomed and appreciated. They asked many questions; we clarified why the new parts of the bargaining agreement were added; and how they would work. The next step in the process is the ICSD Board of Education’s acceptance vote at their next meeting. Then, the contents will begin; it will be posted on the ICSD website on the HR Department page along with other local union contracts and on the ISA web page (https://ithacasubstitutes.org). Gone are the days of $80 a day and nothing written down! A new era begins!
There will be snags with some of the new parts, but we will get things worked out in time. Please be patient!
Retroactive pay will be sent in a separate check as soon as BOCES Payroll receives and implements the new wage requirements. This could take 4 to 6 weeks.
Instructions for over 1.0 workday will be sent as soon as the BOE votes.
Professional Development opportunities for snow day pay and 30/45 days worked will be sent soon. There will be Saturday workshops in April and May 2019.

IT will begin new swipe card lock installation on a school by school basis. Once a school is refitted, its contracted staff will get their new photo ID/swipe cards Swipe cards for subs will be given to substitutes for daily use in those schools. WE HAVE TO RETURN THOSE CARDS at the end of the day as we do now.
That is all the information I have so far. Because we work in many schools, we may have to be rung in at the front door and use the loaner swipe card during the assignment. If and when more information is provided, I will pass it on to you.
Finally, the ISA is TEN YEARS OLD and we’re going to celebrate! Watch for a celebration invitation this Spring!!!
