I went to high school on Long Island, then to SUNY Fredonia for college. Later I got my permanent certification just before I had the first of three kids. I started substitute teaching in the late 1980s and have continued to do it because I enjoy it, and it gives me time to do other things.
I joined ISA when it first started and have been a member in a few different spots on and off since then.
Member-At-Large ~ Kenda-Lee Hice
Kenda-Lee is grateful for the opportunity to meet and work with our diverse ICSD community. She enjoys making art, hiking, waterfalls, swimming, galleries, museums, and especially the Johnson Art Museum with her son and friends. Kenda-Lee is a NYS certified K-12 visual art teacher and is a certified environmental educator through Cornell University.
Member-At-Large ~ Stanley Malinowitz
Stan is a former professor of economics and political economy. Originally from NYC, he has lived and worked in Mexico and Bogotá, Colombia, as well as Amherst, MA and Tucson, AZ. He moved to Ithaca in 2019, and has worked at ICSD since 2022 as a long-term substitute (Spanish), a building sub, and a per diem sub. He is a strong believer in public education and in strong unions.
